....News Update ..... D'Breeon was on the official 55th GRAMMY Entry Ballot in the pre-selection.......D'Breeon announced today that although he was not selected for the final round, he is honored to have been considered and now looks forward to the 56th Grammy's.... D'Breeon's musical journey has spanned over two decades with the release of 6 albums followed by live performances in Chicago, New York, Germany and Los Angeles. Select D'Breeon songs were chosen for inclusion on the Grammy ballots of 2008, 2010 and 2011. D'Breeon says, "I would like people to think of me as a different type of musical innovator, with the originality of my compositions moving the craft of jazz forward. By infusing contemporary musical styles throughout streams of soulful jazz sax solos, I'm attempting to introduce the genre to mainstream audiences." Chicago-born, Bryant Michael Davis (aka D'Breeon) has been playing piano and saxophone since he was six years old. His mother, concert pianist Parrea Wilson, was his first teacher. Starting as a featured bongo player in the movie 'The Mary Thomas Story,' he progressed to become a regular solo performer at the Cotton Club in Chicago. While in college, he studied under renowned jazz bassist Richard Davis at the University at Wisconsin, Madison. Through Davis, D'Breeon met Stanley Jordan and performed with him at local concerts as part of his national tour. During this period, D'Breeon was also composing and performing killer pop-R&B jams with his band The Dans. Through prolific performances at local club scenes, he eventually became well-known as an energetic pop singer and 'new-school' saxophonist. D'Breeon's multidimensional body of work has been celebrated since he was part of the album 'MadScene' with The Dans. 'MadScene' featured the song 'Do You' which was written and performed by D'Breeon. As a result of the album's excellent reviews, D'Breeon was invited to Prince's recording studio, Paisley Park, to lay down tracks that now appear on the 'Do It' album as 'Call Her.' After college graduation and two years working as an industry producer and engineer in Chicago, D'Breeon moved to Los Angeles to work exclusively in the music business. In LA, he performed at the Sidewalk Cafe in Santa Monica, as well as the Roxy and the Gaylord in Beverly Hills. He traveled to the east coast to perform at the Downtime Club in New York City, and overseas for a performance at the Blue Note in Dresden Germany. Throughout this time, he also worked as an audio engineer in the Black Hole Studio, as well as an independent producer with a variety of artists and labels, which included Chi Sound Records, DTA Records, Altar Records, Masonic Music, Quick Silver and Big Sound Records. Building on a successful Los Angeles tour, D'Breeon was offered a distribution deal with Sly Doggie Productions/Universal Music Group in 2012. With the eagerly anticipated release of his latest album, 'The Way You Love Me,' D'Breeon showcases an original collection of dub-step, R&B jazz-style music. Using live saxophone, smooth vocals and brilliant harmonies, D'Breeon has tapped into the pulse of all that is hip and hot. Composer, musician, singer, performer -- D'Breeon does it all, forging ahead to create music that expands the boundaries of 'genre traditionale.'
